My 5 Favourite Spots in Rome After a Year of Blogging
Yes my loves, if you are reading this today, on September 6, 2025, it is officially my birthday and also the one year anniversary of my blog. Exactly one year ago I pressed publish for the very first time and I am forever grateful that I did. To celebrate turning 24 and my little blog turning one, I have put together a list of my favourite spots in Rome after a year of blogging. These places mean the world to me and if you ever find yourself in Rome, do not miss them because I am sure you will fall in love with them. Just as I did.
What to See in the EUR District in Rome: History, Architecture & Surprises
As I have mentioned on my blog before, one of my favourite things about Rome is that every neighbourhood in the city can feel totally different. In my neighbourhood series, I have previously talked about Pigneto, Ostiense, Testaccio, and Monti, and this time I want to focus on the EUR district. Located a little further away from the centre, it is a fascinating place with a dystopian feel to it. To be completely honest, the first time I visited, I kind of got the creeps, but over time I really grew to appreciate it. In this blog post, I will share a bit about the history of the district, the highlights you can’t miss when visiting EUR, and how to get to the area using public transport.
5 x The Best Gelato in Rome (updated 2026)
Since last week I wrote about some of the best savoury street food in Rome, I thought this week it would be nice to switch things over to the sweet side and talk about one of the best treats Rome has to offer: gelato. As an international student, I’ve tried my fair share of gelato in Rome, and over time I’ve collected my top 5 gelaterias for the best gelato in Rome. These spots are the result of plenty of personal “research” (yes, eating a lot of gelato) combined with recommendations from my local Roman foodie friends. When you’re in Rome, you simply have to try them for yourself!
5 x The Best Savoury Street Food in Rome
You know I was excited to write this article. I love many things about Rome, but the food is definitely one of the biggest contributors to my happiness. Since I am a student, my budget isn’t very big, so I don’t eat out often. But with the street food in Rome, you don’t have to spend much for something to really rock your world.
There are a few street food items in Rome that are very famous, and you’ll see them a lot in the city centre. For this blog post, I thought it would be a good idea to share the most famous savoury street food items in Rome that I personally enjoy, along with the places where I think they sell the best ones. When you visit Rome, you simply have to try these foods!
How to Get from Rome Fiumicino Airport to the City by Train
As an international student in Rome, you might guess that I’m at the airport quite regularly, at least four times a year. While I obviously haven’t travelled everywhere yet, Fiumicino Airport is so far my favourite place to land. From there, it’s just so simple to get to the city centre that I never have to stress or worry about it anymore. Because I’d love for you to have as stress-free a visit to Rome as possible, in this blog post I’ll explain how to get from Rome Fiumicino Airport to the city centre by train. It’s cheap, simple, and quick, and with this information, you can do it too.
