Top 4 English-Speaking Hairdressers in Rome (2026)
While my Italian is now probably good enough that I will not leave a salon with blue hair or a random bob, this was definitely not the case when I first moved to Rome as an international student. Back then I spent a lot of time Googling English-speaking hairdressers in Rome hoping to find someone who could understand exactly what I wanted.
I thought it would be fun to share the four English-speaking hairdressers in Rome that I have tried so far and truly loved. They are all talented, friendly, and kind of affordable, which was important for me as a student. There are, of course, many more salons out there, but these are the ones that worked for me and always left me feeling great about my hair.
The Hair Witch Studio
The Hair Witch Studio is located in Trastevere, making it very easy to reach if you are in the centre of Rome. The owner, Nadeshe, speaks excellent English and is also an incredibly talented and creative hairdresser. The salon itself is quite small but beautifully decorated, and I love their spiritual, “magic salon” branding. You can also get your nails done there, and as a bonus (at least for me), the walls are painted pink.
I highly recommend following The Hair Witch Studio on Instagram. Even though most of the content is in Italian, it’s very creative and gives you a great sense of the salon’s vibe. You can book an appointment through the link in their bio, or of course, call the salon directly.
Very happy Juliette
Overall, I felt immediately at ease in the salon and had a great experience. My hair turned out lovely, and I was really happy with the result. If you’re like me and want styling tailored to your zodiac sign, I’d say run, don’t walk, to The Hair Witch Studio.
Noi Salon
One of my absolute favourite English-speaking hairdressers in Rome is Noi Salon. It is located on Piazza del Popolo 3 right in the centre of Rome, so it is easy to reach by public transport.
The first time I went, I was a little lost because the entrance can be hard to find. You enter through the big blue doors between two restaurants and walk all the way to the end of the courtyard. It takes a moment to find it the first time, but once you know, it is simple.
What I really like about this salon is how easy it is to get an appointment. Every time I have booked, there have been spots available within the week, which is perfect because I have been to salons where you had to book weeks in advance. They also reply quickly to emails, which as a Dutchie who appreciates good time management, I find very convenient.
And of course, the most important part: the hair. I have never gotten as many compliments on my hair as I do after going to Noi Salon. They are talented, professional, and always deliver amazing results. This is definitely one of my go-to hair salons in Rome.
Element Salon
Another great English-speaking hair salon in Rome is Element, an American-owned salon located very close to Campo de' Fiori in the centre of the city. The stylists here clearly have a lot of experience, and they do amazing work.
From what I have seen, Element can be quite busy, so it is best to book your appointment in advance. They are very active on Instagram, and sometimes they post stories when a last-minute slot opens up, so following them there is a great idea if you are looking for a spontaneous appointment.
In addition to hair, they also offer manicures, and you can easily contact them via WhatsApp or email to make a booking. For blondes especially, I can highly recommend this salon. It can be on the expensive side, but the quality and results make it completely worth it.
Federico Salon
Last but definitely not least is Federico Salon. If you check his Google reviews, you will see he has an average rating of 4.8 stars with almost 250 reviews, and I can completely understand why.
Federico Salon is a fantastic choice for anyone international looking for a skilled hairdresser in Rome. He replies quickly, has great availability, offers good prices, and most importantly, he really knows what he is doing.
The salon is located close to Piazza del Popolo on Via Laurina 11, making it an easy stop if you are already in the centre of Rome. Besides hair, they also offer nails and makeup, so it is a great place if you want a full beauty treatment in one spot.
My experience here was excellent, and I got some great advice about my hair.
I hope this post helps you find a great English-speaking hairdresser in Rome. While there are probably many more salons out there, these are my favourites so far, and I am sure you will love them too. If you have your own favourite that I should try, please share it in the comments.
I also know that finding a good salon can be even more challenging if you have curly hair. That is why I want to recommend I Love Riccio Salon in Rome. I have not been there myself yet, but I have heard wonderful things. They specialize in all different types of curls, and their website is definitely worth checking out if you are looking for a curly hair specialist in Rome.
