6 Cafés in Pigneto, Rome You Need to Try
Looking for a great coffee in Pigneto? Here are my favorite cafés in one of Rome’s most creative neighborhoods.
My loves, it is April again, the sun is shining here in Rome, and I am ready to attack some terraces with nothing but a desire for cappuccino and a dream.
Over the past few weeks, I ventured back into my old neighbourhood, Pigneto, and tested several cafés for you. I’ve put together a list of the best and cutest cafés in Pigneto, perfect for meeting up with friends or relaxing with a good book in the sun.
Each café has its own aesthetic, so I hope this list inspires you to visit them for yourself and soak in the creative atmosphere of Pigneto while enjoying your coffee.
Libreria Tuba
Located on Via del Pigneto 39, Libreria Tuba is one of my favourite spots in Pigneto, and it has been ever since I moved to Rome. As they describe themselves, Libreria Tuba is a women’s bookstore and bar, created by a group of feminists and lesbians who believe in a free, cheerful, and conscious society.
As a book lover, the combination of a bookstore and bar/café speaks to my heart, and the selection of books (while in Italian) is very carefully curated and definitely worth a peek.
At Libreria Tuba, you can find great coffee and more, and I love the atmosphere. The outdoor area is filled with colourful chairs, and when the weather is good, it’s lovely to sit here in the midst of one of the liveliest streets in Pigneto.
The opening hours are Monday to Saturday from 08:00 to 23:00. Depending on the time you visit, you will find a different Libreria Tuba, and a different Pigneto.
The Corner Pigneto
One of the cutest cafés in Pigneto is definitely The Corner Pigneto. It is located, you guessed it, on a corner, slightly closer to Malatesta than the main street in Pigneto, but that doesn’t take away from the charm of this bar.
The Corner Pigneto is open every day from 06:30 to 22:00, and I would recommend coming here for a delicious breakfast (they have both savory and sweet options). With the flowers outside, this bar just makes me happy, and they understand it perfectly here: a cornetto a day keeps the sadness away!
Necci dal 1924 + Forno Necci
Now, if you really want a nice place to sit, run, don’t walk, to Necci dal 1924. This restaurant slash bar has an amazing terrace outside, and when it’s dark and the lights go on, it truly feels like a fairytale.
For me, Necci dal 1924 is a great spot for an aperitivo with friends, but since they are open from 08:00 in the morning until 01:00 or even 02:00 at night, you can basically go here for all your wishes. They offer breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner, and of course also just coffee, so whatever time of day you find yourself in Pigneto, you won’t regret visiting this place.
A great addition is Forno Necci, their bakery that they recently opened across the street. Now a small square has formed, and it has the cutest vibes. Personally, I have not tried their pastries yet, but they look amazing, so I can’t wait to go back and try them for myself.
Fax Factory
Looking for specialty coffee in Pigneto? Fax Factory is an amazing art and coffee spot in the area. It is relatively small, so on busy days you need to get lucky, but the vibes and coffee are unmatched. The staff at Fax Factory are kind, and it is good to know that they offer smart working stations and free Wi-Fi, so you can even study or work here. For example, I visited on a weekday around 11:00, and there was more than enough space to work.
The breakfast and sweets at Fax Factory are great, with options like avocado toast, and they even offer vegan sweets, which I appreciate. Honestly, I think they offer the best coffee in Pigneto, which is a big claim, but if anyone disagrees with me, I am open to suggestions.
Fax Factory is open every day from 08:00 to 18:00, and on Sunday from 09:00 to 13:00.
Zazie nel Metro
Two steps away from Fax Factory, you can find Zazie nel Metro (named after a book), and it is hard to find a more authentic café. During the day, Zazie nel Metro is filled with local students who come here to study with their laptops, and during the night, they often host events such as live music, so it is worth following them on Instagram to stay updated.
Personally, I love the alternative, creative atmosphere here, and I can highly recommend coming here for a coffee, or going out at night, of course. They are open on Monday from 08:00 to 15:00 and from 18:30 to midnight, from Tuesday to Friday from 08:00 to midnight, and on the weekend from 09:00 to midnight. If you want to experience the local Pigneto atmosphere, you have to visit Zazie.
Burro e Mezè
Last but not least is Burro e Mezè, a very cute, local café. Normally, it has a better view, but this part of Pigneto is currently undergoing a bit of construction, to say the least. That cannot dim my spirits, and a visit to Burro e Mezè is never wasted.
They offer great breakfast, and if you are looking for a no-nonsense, cute café in Pigneto for a quick coffee and Italian breakfast, this is your spot. They don’t offer many seating options, but sometimes you don’t need one. Inside, it really feels like a warm, welcoming living room, and I feel immediately better after visiting this café.
Burro e Mezè is open on Monday from 07:00 to 15:00, Tuesday to Thursday from 07:00 to 22:00, Friday and Saturday from 07:00 to 00:00, and Sunday from 07:00 to 22:00.
Conclusion
I hope this article has given you lots of inspiration for your next visit to Pigneto. All of these cafés and bars are unique and offer something new for your daily coffee experience. If you would like to share some of your favourite places in Pigneto for coffee, I am always open to new inspiration!
With much love,
Juliette
