If you are older than me, this might not be weird for you, but this is my first back-to-school season where I am actually not going to school anymore. Seeing all the signs with sales and whatnot made me a bit sentimental, while also eternally grateful that I don’t have to study for exams anymore.
Ever since I was a little girl, I have been obsessed with everything stationery. You cannot make me happier than with a beautiful notebook, a pen, or handy sticky notes where I can write my to-do list on (can you tell I am a Virgo?).
In Rome, there are some beautiful stationery stores, which carry everything from cute styles to classic leather goods. In this blog post, I will tell you all about where to find the best stationery in Rome. Even if you are not going back to school, sometimes you just have to treat yourself to a new pen.
La Feltrinelli
First on the list is La Feltrinelli, not officially a stationery store but the best bookstore chain in Rome in my opinion. They have one of the biggest selections of English books, and besides that, they carry amazing stationery.
If you are in my inner circle, you might know that my favorite stationery and notebook brand is Paperblanks. They make notebooks that look like they come straight out of a fairytale, and over the years, I have acquired quite the collection.

If you are looking for back-to-school stuff or stationery like planners, pens, notebooks of any kind, Feltrinelli is a good place to start. It is not the cheapest place, but since they carry Paperblanks notebooks, they cannot do any wrong.
Legami
Legami Milano is one of those stores where, whenever I walk in, I am so happy to be born a girl. A small warning, if you are easily overstimulated, this might not be the store for you. But honestly, Legami makes me feel like a cute little rainbow just puked all over me.
The stationery at Legami is very cutesy, almost Japanese-style stationery. Everything is colorful, fun, and, well, very cute. If you are looking for some serious-looking stationery, this is definitely not the place for you. But if you like your stationery in eleven shades of pink (like me) or covered in baby animals, I think you will absolutely love it.
Like La Feltrinelli, Legami is a chain, so you can find many locations around Rome. Besides stationery, they also have lots of other cute items, which makes it a great place to look for a little gift too.
And honestly, if you walk into Legami and don't leave with something you absolutely did not need, I will be impressed.
Il Papiro
If you are looking for more fancy, authentic Italian stationery, Il Papiro might be the place for you. Il Papiro has its origins in Florence and produces handmade decorative paper, which is still made using the same methods and techniques used in traditional 17th-century craftsmanship.
The store in Rome is pretty small, but as soon as you walk in, you can tell that everything sold there is very special and made with an eye for detail. Il Papiro sells colorful notebooks, calligraphy pens, cards, and much more. If you are a fan of stationery, snooping around this store is truly a treat.
Il Papiro is not the cheapest store, but if you are looking for a special gift or want to treat yourself to some good-quality stationery, I think it is definitely worth a visit!
Antica Cartotecnica
Staying in the same atmosphere as Il Papiro, next we have Antica Cartotecnica, another store in the center of Rome. This store was founded in the 1930s and is currently owned by the granddaughter of the founder.
At Antica Cartotecnica, you can buy both vintage and contemporary items, all made with the highest level of craftsmanship. They offer a wide range of products, such as notepads, notebooks, diaries, address books, small leather goods, beautiful paper, and more. The staff at Antica Cartotecnica is very knowledgeable, and if you are a collector of special pens, for example, I am sure they can help you with whatever you need.
Personally, I really love this store because it feels like you are stepping back in time a little. If stationery makes your heart beat faster, like mine, it is a must-visit when in Rome.
