Where to Go Vintage Shopping in Monti, Rome
My loves, as you might know, the sixth of September was my birthday, and I turned the beautiful age of 25. Since me and my blog have the same birthday, it is official now: my blog is also two years old!
Since I am getting older, it is becoming more and more important to me that I wear original pieces, and I try to avoid consuming fast fashion as much as possible. I love apps like Vinted, where you can buy secondhand items, but to me, there is nothing better than strolling along vintage stores, looking for little gems.
Rome, and the Monti neighborhood in particular, has wonderful vintage stores, with both designer and non-designer items. In this article, I will tell you all about my favorite vintage stores in the Monti area of Rome, so when you visit Rome, you know exactly where to go to treat yourself to a wardrobe upgrade.
The Domus Aurea in Rome: an underground palace near the Colosseum
At this point, it is no secret that Rome is filled with amazing monuments. In fact, there is so much worth seeing that it is easy to become a victim of choice overload. Last week, though, I visited a monument close to the Colosseum that I completely fell in love with, so it only makes sense to share it on my blog. I am talking about the Domus Aurea in Rome, or “Golden House”, built by Emperor Nero. This archaeological site was completely buried, and visiting this underground palace is truly a unique experience.
Is Monti worth visiting on your trip to Rome?
A while ago, I was talking to one of my close friends in Rome, and she told me that her favourite neighbourhood in the city was none other than Monti. And maybe it was the fact that I can be introverted, but my first thought was: Why? There are so many people in Monti. I just couldn’t grasp the fact that of all the neighbourhoods in Rome, she would pick Monti as her favourite.
However, over the past few months, I’ve been taking Italian classes in this area (I’m now the proud owner of an A1/A2 Italian certificate), and as a result, I’ve spent a great deal of time in the Monti neighbourhood. And I must admit, I really grew to love this part of Rome.
