During my Christmas break, I spent quite some time in Utrecht, one of my favourite cities in the Netherlands. Christmas World Rome Review: Is It Worth Visiting?

If you already know me a little, it is no surprise that I am more of a summer than a winter person, and my mom and I have a yearly tradition of counting down the days until spring. The only thing that really keeps me going during this time of year is, of course, nothing less than Christmas. Christmas is, especially for someone who lives abroad, truly something to look forward to, and I am always ready to immerse myself in the Christmas spirit.

This year in Rome, in Villa Borghese, you can find Christmas World, a Christmas village that is, according to their website, the biggest in Europe.

On the 13th of December, my friend and I went to visit Christmas World to have a day filled with holiday joy and, of course, to review it. Since we are both from the Benelux, and my friend even lived in Vienna for a couple of years, we considered ourselves worthy of judging a good Christmas village. You can visit Christmas World in Rome until the 11th of January, and by the end of this post you will know whether I think it is worth going or not.

This way, I hope I can inspire you for your own travels, and at the same time I can keep reminiscing for just a little while longer. Dare I say, a win win situation?

Best Photo Spots in Matera: Most Beautiful Viewpoints

Bold statement: after Rome, Matera might be my favourite place on earth. For me, the city feels like pure magic, and it also happens to have some of the most beautiful viewpoints I have ever seen.

The first time I visited Matera was in February 2024, when I took an eight hour FlixBus from Rome to Matera, and it was one of my first blog articles ever. While I still have PTSD from that FlixBus trip (which was not FlixBus its fault, more like my own, because my entire container of meal prepped pasta was swimming around at the bottom of my bag, yes with red sauce) I have amazing memories from that solo trip, and I could not wait to go back. This time around I was with my family, but I still had that same magical feeling I had during my first visit.

Since I had been before, I took my family to all my favourite viewpoints in Matera, the ones where you get the best views of the ancient Sassi from different corners and angles. And since I am not one to gatekeep, I thought it would be nice to share these spots so you know exactly where to go for the most beautiful views in Matera.
